Have you been wanting to get away? I mean REALLY get away...unplug (no screens), relax and relax? If so? Then LL Cottage is the place for you! We are just off Rt 17...15 min from Downtown Elizabeth City (Breweries Music & Art), Dismal Swamp Trails/State Park, and 2 min from the Speedway. Our rustic bungalow provides a place to reconnect with adored ones while being surrounded by nature . If your looking for Ahh you've found it! Did I mention your view is a horse ranch across the street!!
Legacy Cottage is surrounded by woods and has a great view of the horse ranch across the street...There's always a horse out (spotty is my favorite). There is also Dixieland Raceway literally 2 mins. away. So on race nights you can experience the sounds of the raceway while appreciating the patio or back deck. No worries race's all end by 10pm! This is a bungalow surrounded by nature so don't fret if you see a lizard, spider, or dragonfly...I've even heard owls, woodpeckers, and frogs❤️
About the Area
Elizabeth City is home to this cottage. The Pines at Elizabeth City and Northwest River Park and Campground are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Dismal Swamp State Park and Waterfront Park. Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Edenton vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Edenton area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best rental:
- Select vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. A place to unwind and unplug! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
