Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Edenton visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Edenton area:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Stay Downtown on Historic Main St. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a wonderful stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
