Getting the best Elizabeth City vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Elizabeth City rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Elizabeth City. To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Edenton attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Edenton visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in Elizabeth City:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Relax and enjoy the calm has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
- If there's a certain Edenton attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
