The Barker House
Edenton, North Carolina




The Barker House, was built in 1782 as the residence of Thomas & Penelope Barker. Penelope Barker was a principle figure in the famous Edenton Tea Party which occurred on October 25, 1774.


Now owned by the Edenton Historical Commission, the Barker House is open to the public for tours of the interior. A volunteer staff member is in attendance to answer questions or provide information about other points of interest in Edenton.

Monday - Saturday: 10 AM - 4 PM
Sunday: 1 - 4 PM
